Usefulness:

The official Facebook for Android application is, unfortunately, no better than using your browser to login to the website from your Android phone or tablet. How well this application works could very well depend on your version of the Android operating system or the specific device you are using. The Facebook for Android application features most if not all of the features that you could access from the Facebook website on your home computer. They provide access to photos, profiles, groups, chat, friends, and much more. You have the option to post a status or link, upload photos, or change your information and settings, as well as being able to contact friends and groups through messaging and wall posts.

When trying to access this application on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 it forced quit several times within only about twenty minutes of use. It also took forever to load most pages, and did not even load some other pages. It did not ever load my "friends list" and when I forced to quit the application, that was where it most often happened. Inexplicably, the pictures feature loaded most pictures quickly and without a problem, which seems strange considering pictures are what often slows applications and web pages down. This application might be better in the future with more updates to fix the glitches, but as of right now it was not very useful.

Ease of Use:

The Facebook for Android application would have been easier to use if it had been working properly and loading all of the pages in an efficient manner, but, there were quite a few glitches and errors that made it somewhat difficult to use. The navigation of the application is fairly straightforward, the home page goes directly to your news feed and if you press the back button it brings you to an icon menu with options for checking out photos, friends, your profile, events, groups, your news feeds, and others.

If you use the pop-up bottom menu from the icon menu, you can gain access to your various settings and can find the buttons to refresh your content or logout of the application. This all helps with navigation in a general sense. However, because of the other issues with this application, it might be easier and faster for most Android tablet or phone users to just access the Facebook website through their browser.

Value:

The value is decent because the application is free, but, until some of these issues are fixed it might not be worth it to have the application on your device because it takes up memory and could use data and slow your device down.
